Meet Matthew Birchall
Matthew Birchall Plumbing and Heating is run by Matthew Birchall, a local plumbing and heating engineer. When you ring 07759 813431, you speak to Matthew. When someone turns up at your door, it's Matthew. There's no call centre and no salesman, just the engineer who does the work.
That keeps things simple. The person who looks at the problem is the person who prices it and fixes it, so nothing gets lost along the way.
Gas Safe Registered: Number 653634
Matthew is on the Gas Safe Register, number 653634. By law, only a Gas Safe registered engineer can work on boilers, gas fires, cookers and hobs. You can check his registration at gassaferegister.co.uk, or ask to see his Gas Safe ID card when he arrives. We'd encourage you to check any engineer before they touch your gas supply.
Gas safety is something Matthew talks to customers about on every visit. Know the signs of carbon monoxide: headaches, dizziness, nausea, a lazy yellow or orange flame, or soot around an appliance. Fit an audible CO alarm near any gas appliance, and if you smell gas, call 0800 111 999.
A Local St Helens Business
We're based in St Helens and work across the whole borough, from Newton-le-Willows and Haydock to Rainhill, Rainford and Billinge. Being local means we know the housing, from older terraces to newer estates, and the problems that tend to come with each. See the full list of areas we cover.
Clear Prices, Agreed Up Front
We don't publish a price list, because every job is different. The age of the system, access, parts and how long the work takes all make a difference. What we do promise is that you'll know the price before any work starts. If Matthew finds something unexpected once he's started, he'll stop and talk it through with you before going any further.
How Matthew Works
- Turns up when he says. If something changes, you'll get a call, not silence.
- Explains the problem. You'll know what's wrong, what the options are and what it will cost before any work starts.
- Treats your home with respect. Dust sheets down, shoes off where needed, and a proper tidy-up at the end.
- Honest advice. If a repair makes more sense than a replacement, he'll tell you.
- Leaves it working. Everything is tested before he goes, and he'll show you where your stopcock is if you don't already know.
