Plumber in Blackbrook, WA11
We cover Blackbrook and the rest of WA11, with 24/7 emergency callouts every day of the year. Matthew Birchall is our Gas Safe registered engineer (number 653634), and he's the one on the phone and at your door.
The housing here is mixed, with older properties on original pipework and newer homes on modern combis. That changes the job. In older houses we tend to find tired joints and corroded fittings. In newer ones it's more often a push-fit joint that's worked loose, or a pipe caught by a nail during DIY.
Leaks and burst pipes
When water comes through the ceiling, turn off the stopcock first. It's usually under the kitchen sink or where the supply pipe comes into the house. Open the cold taps to drain the system, switch off the electrics if water is near anything electrical, then ring 07759 813431.
Matthew makes it safe first, then does a proper repair. Our burst pipe and leak repair service covers everything from a weeping joint under the sink to a split pipe in the loft.
Not every leak is obvious. A damp patch that keeps coming back or a boiler that keeps losing pressure can both point to a hidden leak. If your boiler pressure keeps falling below about 1 bar, get the leak found rather than topping it up every week.
Boilers and heating
We repair and service most makes of gas boiler, combi, system and conventional. An annual boiler service keeps most warranties valid and catches small faults before they turn into breakdowns. If your boiler is 10 to 15 years old and breaking down often, it's worth weighing up a replacement. A combi swap usually takes about a day. The manufacturer's standard warranty has to be registered, and we sort that out with you.
Cold radiators, lukewarm hot water and noisy pipes are everyday calls. We bleed and balance systems, replace pumps, valves and thermostats, and power flush systems full of sludge. In older houses still on a loft tank and cylinder, a combi or an unvented cylinder can give much better pressure.
Signs of carbon monoxide include headaches, dizziness or nausea, a lazy yellow or orange flame, and soot around the appliance. Turn it off, open the windows and call 0800 111 999.
Bathrooms and showers
We fit showers, wet rooms and full bathrooms with tiling. Our bathroom fitters page explains how a refit runs. If there's old pipework under the floor, a refit is the time to replace it while everything is opened up. Bathroom electrics fall under Part P, and the electrics are done by a Part P registered electrician we work with.
Nearby areas
We're often in Haydock, Parr and Moss Bank.
